Make Room, Go Deeper
On the night of the 26th of January, we gathered to worship and we asked one thing: that as we make room — physically, but also in us — like empty vessels, he would pour.
And we’ve loved hearing what God has done that night, and also in people’s hearts.
“Thank you for being obedient in putting on this night. I’d love to encourage you to continuing to listen to the Lord; write the songs He gives you!
It’s refreshing to come to a space dedicated to corporate worship + how you’ve brought Christians together. Bless you both!”
“These songs were so powerful, so authentic & so relatable. I felt these songs spoke to some personal battles I am facing, reminding me to find peace with Jesus & not let worry take control of my mind. Thank you for giving the lyrics so I can meditate on them! Also a big thanks for being obedient to the spirit.”
“Keep pursuing the prompting God has placed on you. Your obedience to step out in faith has and will continue to encourage people in their walk with the Lord. I have been encourage to pause and appreciate God’s faithfulness in where he has me now and not been anxious about next steps. ”
One overwhelming feedback we got from the night was that many attendees wanted opportunities to go deeper into the grace and truth of our songs.
“Unpacking of scripture (your songs are based on scripture) so pairing some of those songs with a study guide.”
“Encouragement to stay close to God, and to continue seeking Him everyday. More devotionals!!”
“In the word daily.”
It was something that was already on our hearts, but we didn’t want to do anything without first seeking God and hearing from him.
And now, we’ve felt to move. We began releasing devotionals from the 22nd of February — free, for anyone, one email each day — and we’ve continued to hear about how they have helped people consider the Bible in ways they have not, going deeper with the Word beyond devotionals, worshipping not just to our songs but also those already in the wider Church. We’re so glad to be able to play a part in this.
One of the core vssls mandate is to release the grace and truth of God, through whom all things were made, and resonate with believers and non-believers alike; and to help move people from borrowed faith to personal relationship.
That is what drives everything we do — our songs, our devotionals, our evangelistic arm, and anything in the future that God puts on our hearts. The devotionals are not a discipline to perform, but an invitation to sit with the Word for yourself.
And we’re already seeing fruit. One listener was in the middle of an overwhelming, stressful season when Friend to me played from their streaming platform, and it grounded them enough to invite God into the moment. They came away with a sense of peace, and a sense of direction. A reader told us how the devotionals are stirring food for thought in her life: “when those thoughts come, my worship music goes on and my Bible is open. So thank you for the devotions... They are impactful!”
Our prayer from the start has been that borrowed faith — faith propped up on someone else's walk with God — would become a person's own. Their own Bible. Their own hearing. Their own friendship with Jesus.
The devotionals are just one way we’re making room for God to pour. And it’s one invitation we have for you to make room in your life.
The oil never stopped until there were no more vessels to fill. What if He's still waiting on us to make room?
